DNA Paternity Test in Michigan
Michigan is a state in the Great Lakes region of the Midwestern United States. The name Michigan is the French form of the Ojibwa word mishigamaa, meaning “large water” or “large lake”.
Even though Detroit may have filed for bankruptcy there is so much more to the state of Michigan than this with Grand Rapids being a vibrant downtown between Chicago and Cleveland. There is a DIY spirit in Detroit that has converted vacant lots into urban farms, building hostels and museums. There is a lot more to Michigan than Detroit too: the very popular University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is a big draw for students from all over America and the world. Michigan is a very scenically beautiful state with lots to do and see especially if you like the outdoors and activities such as sailing, hiking and kayaking. Michigan has some diverse summer destinations with the Gold Coast of beaches being very easy access from Grand Rapids.
But while you’re in Detroit have a look at the Heidelberg Project, with polka dotted streets, technicolour paint jobs and weird sculptures in the front yards, this whole block is a massive weird and wonderful art project. Try some peanuts at the Eastern Market where you’ll find cheese, spice and flowers, turn up at the weekend for the market and for the specialty shops with ethnic food you can also come along on a Monday to Friday.
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Detroit is a must see, hosted inside an abandoned car dealership with heat lamps hanging from the ceiling and peculiar items on display that change every couple of weeks, catch music and literary events here too. The Detroit Institute of Arts is the best of all the museums here, you’ll find Diego Rivera’s mural Detroit Industry which encompasses an entire room due to its gigantic size. It is a reflection of the blue collar labour industrial history that is part of the Detroit story, home to the car industry of boom and bust, learn more about it here.
Grand Rapids is the second biggest city in Michigan, and is famous for Office furniture, believe it or not! It is also quite famous for beer so that’s a big plus for beer lovers. There are twenty breweries that have set up in the area and the Grand Rapids CVB online have all the maps and guided tours you could want. But let’s get down to business beer fans, if you have only got time for one brewery then go to the rock and roll Founders Brewing Company. There is good ale and meat filled deli sandwiches (vegetable ones for vegetarians). If you have time for a second visit, head over to Brewery Vivant, where you’ll find specialty Belgian–style beers. This brewery has been set up in an old chapel and has a vaulted ceiling and stained glass windows. You might try the local cheese too and burgers in the farmhouse with large communal tables.
